SHIROHATO with SDGs
As part of our CSR activities as stated in our company philosophy, we announced in 2010 that we would be going eco. Up to this day we have taken part in the ‘Fun to Share’ scheme as a means of combatting global warming. We are based in Kyoto, which in 1997 held the third session of the Conference of Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP3). Later, in 2005 the ‘Kyoto Protocol’ came into effect.
It is because we are a Kyoto based company that we ask ourselves ‘is there anything we can do?’ and say ‘Let us start with what we can do’ with regards to the environment.
In 2015 the United Nations adopted targets for development named ‘Sustainable Development Goals’ (SDGs). These SDGs not only aim to solve climate change, but also poverty, hunger, and include targets for society (such as education), the environment (living in harmony with living organisms), as well as employment, infrastructure, production and other economic targets. The SDGs also aim to solve the issues of inequality (including gender equality), peace, and consist of 169 detailed targets that were created to be able to be worked on and implemented by every country in the world. The targets are to be carried out by 2030.
We believe that the targets involving all peoples and enterprises from around the world are a manifestation of the SDGs vow to ‘Leave no one behind’. We all must recognize the dangers facing society on a national scale, reform our ways and come together as a planet in order to combat and overcome the various problems facing the world.
We at Shirohato promise to do all we can to fulfill the SDGs, as well as continue to carry out our company philosophy and current CSR activities.
